I guess a lot of people have a "things to do before I'm 30" list. Well, since I'm already 30, I guess I missed the boat on that one ...
And creating a "things to do before I'm 40" list seems a little depressing.
So while I know that it's not realistic to make a "things to do before I'm 35" list considering I'll be hitting that particular milestone in a matter of months, I'm at kind of an interesting juncture in my life right now. I've finally developed some guts, have come a long way with following through on things, and ... well, if I say I'm going to do something, I'm at a place where I'll at least give it my best effort.
So, with that being said, here it is.
Things To Do Before I'm 35
1. Read at least five "classics" that I've never read.
2. Get at least one piece of writing published in a place that is "legit" (in other words, not me posting my writing on this blog or on a place like Wattpad, which is a cool thing to be sure, but not the same as being actively solicited ... um, that sounded bad ;-))
3. Fly in an airplane.
4. Make amends with people in my life that I've disappointed, let down, or grown apart from.
5. Lose 20 pounds.
6. Organize my clothes.
7. Be in a normal, healthy, happy relationship with a nice guy.
8. Do a random act of kindness every day.
9. Go out socially at least once a week.
10. Learn how to walk in high heels.
Considering that the deadline is October 26, 2011, I have a lot of work to do ... but at least now I've verbalized it. And in a public forum, no less, so that means that you, my lovely readers, will have to hold me to it.
Which of these do you think is most likely for me to pull off? Which isn't (or aren't) going to happen?

I have some similar goals, although I'm 48, and I'll never fly again, and I have no desire to meet a nice guy, and I'll be okay if I never learn to walk in high heels... Okay, we both want to be published, do random acts of kindness (that's a beautiful goal, btw), and lose 20 pounds. My goal is no get rid of some regrets I've had. Some are too late to correct, but some are fixable.
ReplyDeleteI think number 1 is least likely - it depends on the classics you choose, of course. Children's classics would be more easily attained.
ReplyDeleteI think you have a fabulous list here! What a brilliant idea! The only one I'd tell you not to get your hopes up on would be the published part. It's really hard to get published and a deadline will stress you out. Other than that I love your list!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is awesome!!! I'm a newbie and looking forward to future posts!! Hope you stop by my blog, Unedited, to say hello!
I think 3 months is pretty fast for losing 20 lbs...
ReplyDeleteAnd getting your clothes organized, well, that's easily do-able, unless your closet is REALLY BAD, but probably it can be done even so.
Thanks for the visit!
that's a pretty steep list to accomplish in a matter of months, especially # 2 (I've been working on that one for a long while...)and #10.
ReplyDeleteGood luck - and let me know how #10 works out ;)
#7? Any nice guys left? All the girls I know seem to find the bad ones or there are only bad ones, lol.
ReplyDeleteI've never managed walking in high heels, though I did have platforms in the 70s.
ReplyDeleteI think it'll help if you consolidate some of them. For example, change it to 'learn how to power walk in heels so I can lose 20 lbs.'
ReplyDeleteDoable? Maybe. If you don't break your ankles.
Good luck getting published! It's a very, very hard task, and we're here if you need any advice.
KL, you can do anything you want to do. "Can't" means "Won't."
