Outrage Over Little Girls Dressed like Hookers

One of my new Zelda Lily stories ... please check it out if you can and comment there or comment here, but please make your voice heard on this one. Sick, that's all I have to say ... although some are disagreeing with me on that.

  1. I think it's way over the top. I've read all the excuses from the parents, such as it's just like the bikinis everyone's kids wear at the pool. Yeah, but those don't come with thigh highs! The sad thing is -- it will raise the standards for other dancing groups. They'll have to try to top them and it just gets worse and worse. Off to check out your link now. :)

  2. I was curious(and ready to be sickened, but wanted to see it anyway) about the video, but now it seems tohave been pulled from every site.
Who knows? Maybe this "unexpected" controversy over this type of dress and performance may make these parents rethink what they are allowing thier children to do.
Also..my first thought was how could any father allow his daughter to be seen like that, and then when I read your article, there was some idiotic father defending it. I just don't get it....

  3. I read the article and watched the video. It's a lot different nowadays than what I used to wear in my dance performances: little rainbow tutu's with white tights: it was much more wholesome back then.

It's too bad and I'm glad you're writing about it. You go!

  4. The comments on the site are getting pretty heated, so I don't really want to get my face ripped off by a defensive parent. Honestly, I think the dancing is beast. The costumes are definitely more revealing than I would allow my own kids to wear (if I had any), but I'm not about to go parent someone else's kid. Those kids should be proud of their talent. Their dance moves are fine; everyone calling them "little strippers" is not. I do hip hop during the year, so maybe I'm seeing this from the other end, as a dancer would be pretty offended if the audience started calling me a whore. Then again, I am almost twenty. So I guess I don't really know where I stand on this.

But I think it's cool you're writing on Zelda Lily. Will have to check it out more. :D
