Everything is fine, really, despite my quoting of Evanescence below (and for some reason it's posting as larger than everything else here ... not intentional, I swear!!!!). I'm devastated about someone else's misfortunes (and him not handling them particularly well, although I do want to emphasize that they're pretty malevolent misfortunes and I'm probably coming off as a heartless witch). Even deeper inside myself, though, there's the nagging wish that something had worked out differently in my life--this would not have been possible ever, but sometimes you gotta wonder why destiny throws you a lifeline then constantly keeps it just out of your reach. Blah ... and I'm sure nobody knows what I'm talking about on that one, since it's not something anyone really knows about.
So ... onward with the soundtrack of my brain right now. Jesus, I need to lighten up ...
"I've heard this life is overrated,
but I hope that it gets better as we go.
I'm here without you, baby
but you're still on my lonely mind
I think about you, baby
and I dream about you all the time."
--3 Doors Down
"I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along."
--Evanescence
Originally, this blog was intended to be my take on life, a way to write regularly, and so forth. I'd like to move it in a different direction a bit, using my own lens to contemplate stuff going on in the world. Please comment ... I love conversations!!!!

A Musical (well, lyrical) Interlude
I have a lot on my mind at the moment. Too much, and too personal to blog about. Therefore, I came up with the genius (hahaha) idea of posting song quotes. That way, nobody will know who or what I'm talking about. Except maybe for you. And that's what I hope.
"If you don't expect too much from me,
You might not be let down."
--Gin Blossoms
"I think about you all the time, but I don't need the same.
It's lonely where you are, come back down ..."
--Goo Goo Dolls
"I don't want to be the sweeper of the egg shells that you walk upon
And I don't want to be your other half, I believe that 1 and 1 make 2
I don't want to be your food or the light from the fridge on your face
At midnight, hey
What are you hungry for
I don't want to be the glue that holds your pieces together
I don't want to be your idol
See this pedestal is high and I'm afraid of heights
I don't want to be lived through
A vicarious occasion
Please open the window"
--Alanis Morissette
"Just one smile on your face
Was all it took to change my fortune
Just one word from your mouth
Was all I needed to be certain."
--Madonna
"That's why I'm going to Katmandu,
Up to the mountains where I'm going to.
If I ever get out of here,
That's what I'm gonna do."
--Bob Seger
"Jane, divided, but I cant decide what side I'm on
Jane decided only cowards stay, while traitors run."
--Barenaked Ladies
"Danger in the game when the stakes are high
Branded, my heart was branded while my senses stood by."
--Starship
"Will you raise me up, will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this godforsaken town?
Will you make it all a little less cold?
I can do that. Oh I can do that.
Will you hold me sacred?
Will you hold me tight?
Can you colorize my life, I'm so sick of black and white!
Can you make it all a little less old?
I can do that.
Oh oh now I can do that!
Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?
Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?
I can do that!
Oh, oh, now I can do that!
Will you cater to every fantasy I've got?
Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot? Hot!
Will you take me places I've never known?"
--Meat Loaf
