Personally as I teacher...Thanks for the shout out. Personally as I teacher I think we do get a small pass in life.
When my hubby and I were getting married this is the conversation I had with him:

"So what do you do for a living?"
"I teach middle school."
Priest: "Oh Jesus Christ! You get a free ride in, no one's gonna stop you at the pearly gate."

Being nice to people is easy, I told myself, I don't need to be in a good mood all the time, I don't need to be nice to everyone. I just need to be nice for 30 seconds in 24 hours.

Thanks for the shout out. Have a great dayErinnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13936046127305211439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3196908370614674789.post-25257225509815263682009-12-06T08:02:27.469-05:002009-12-06T08:02:27.469-05:00I love this post! I think there's nothing more...I love this post! I think there's nothing more important than helping other people and I love how the holiday season makes us all think about it even more. I think it's safe to say we all question whether or not we make any sort of a difference. I'm sure you are with the students you teach and that lady with a cane? You probably made her smile. I think being kind and friendly is number one. Just smiling at someone can make a difference. It can be that easy. I spend a lot of time on facebook, which I know could earn me a lot of criticism and laughs, but there are a lot of lonely people in the world and commenting on statuses and blogs makes me feel like I've done something good. People know then that what they say and how they feel is important and I think that makes a difference.

Taking meals to people who have had surgery or babies or are even just sick or really busy is another good thing I like to do.

Something I've always wanted to do is volunteer at a hospital to hold the NICU babies or elsewhere in the maternity unit. Than again, I love babies! I've never lived close enough to a hospital to do that though and now I have two babies of my own so not sure I'd be able to. Someday though!

Volunteering at a library is another fun way to make a difference. I have all sorts of ideas. Okay, I'll stop now. Obviously, you hit on one of my loves... Sorry for the novel of a comment!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08616276555920544920noreply@blogger.com
